Vincar EV, official distributor for the Aion brand in Singapore, has unveiled the first model under the Chinese automaker’s premium sub-brand. Dubbed the Hyptec HT, it bucks the trend and the general formula of modern Chinese electric crossovers, introducing some fairly unorthodox design choices.

Though there’s little in the spec sheet to suggest that there’s anything substantially different. Powering the HY is a rear-mounted electric motor, which has 250 kW of power and 430 Nm of torque. It draws its electrons from an 83.3 kWh battery pack, and will do up to 520 kilometres on a single charge.
It will also juice up fairly quickly, gaining up to 350 kilometres of range in as little as 15 minutes of charging.

And it feels like business as usual on the inside too. The HYPTEC HT comes equipped with a 14.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen and an 8.88-inch driver display, with your auditory experience powered by a 22-speaker Belgian sound system with Dolby Atmos.
But where it properly stands out from the electric crossover crowd is in its rear doors. Unlike pretty much every single vehicle on our roads, the Luxury variant of the HT comes with Gullwing doors. A novelty for sure, but one that is set to work properly for years to come, as Hyptec has spent a lot of effort to engineer them – so much so that they have a dedicated warranty for its components.
Two HT variants are available at launch. There’s the Premium with regular rear doors, and the aforementioned Luxury with its Gullwing doors. They are priced at $218,988 and $249,888 respectively, with prices including the COE.
