If your Interior Designer insists that extensive carpentry is needed to create a stylish and inviting home, we’d strongly urge you to find someone else to tackle your home renovation. This project from our friends at Ngieng Spatial Design is proof that carefully planning and considerate design is all you need for a cosy and inviting home.

The living space is intentionally kept minimalistic, as this adheres to the ideologies of the Zen and Scandinavian design. It also helps to create the illusion of a larger space. Off-white walls and wood-effect vinyl flooring completes the simple and stylish living area.

This obsession with the thoughtful use of space, and of carpentry, extends to the master bedroom too. No L-shaped cabinets here. For two reasons – firstly those would have taken up a lot of additional space for not a lot of extra storage, and secondly, this particular layout had no space for one. Instead, a simple, straight wardrobe has been fabricated, with one end terminating into a built-in bedside table.

An integrated headboard ensures all the cable trunking remains neatly concealed, and the built-in light helps to create a warm atmosphere, perfect for evenings where you’d prefer to stay in.

The toilets are certainly bolder, with the designers opting to go with a two-tone colour scheme. There’s clear inspiration from holiday villas and chalets from abroad, ideal for recreating recreation vibes whilst at home.

Where the designers opted to deviate from the Japandi theme the owners were after, is in the kitchen. It still is minimalistic, but the choice of laminate is best described as ‘bold’. Even so, it pairs very well with the overall theme of the home, and manages to still feel sophisticated and inviting!
