The Singapore launch of the regular Lexus LBX coincided with the official unveiling of the LBX Morizo RR Concept in Tokyo.
No longer is this LBX Morizo RR a Category A COE car – unlike its production sibling, it does not have the standard 1.5 litre hybrid inline three anymore. Instead, you’ll find a GR Yaris-sourced G16E 1.6 litre turbocharged inline three. The larger engine also means more power – the car now develops 300 hp, up from just 134 hp.

Rumour has it that the hybrid system has been abandoned, though the car now gains all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed torque converter auto dubbed the Direct Automatic Transmission.
Changes have also been made to the exterior of the vehicle. Here’s a photo of the standard car for comparison purposes:

The Morizo RR Concept now wears a full spindle grille, and has additional side vents, presumably to cool a mixture of the charge coolers and the uprated brakes. There are other changes to the suspension, though Lexus did not elaborate on the alterations.

Unlike a lot of the concept cars that manufacturers unveil at motor shows, the Morizo RR Concept doesn’t really look like a concept at all. The seemingly production-ready car hints at a potential LBX-F later down the line. And if the response of the GR Yaris and Corolla was anything to go by, Lexus may have a hot seller on their hands!
