The days of the third-generation Suzuki Swift are numbered. Suzuki launched its replacement in December of 2023, and several MY2024 Swift units were exhibited at the 2024 Edition of the Tokyo Auto Salon.

But this latest Swift isn’t a ground-up, all-new car. In fact, it shares the same basic underpinnings as the third-generation car it replaces. Not only that, the two cars share a lot of their basic overall design too.

Visually, most of the roofline remains unchanged. The curvaceous swage lines of the older car have been replaced with an aggressive singular line that spans the length of the vehicle. You’ll find the biggest difference on the C-pillar – where the previous car had a blunt shark fin-esque kink, the new car is more conventional.

Visibility should remain unchanged though, as both cars have trim panels instead of glass. Upfront, the grille has shrunk, and now sits lower down the vehicle. The bonnet line has been neatly integrated into the shoulder line, drastically cleaning up the side profile of the vehicle.

The changes are more drastic in the cabin. It adopts the now-ubiquitous tablet-on-dash design, which allows Suzuki to move away from the confines of a double-DIN form factor. A simplified instrument cluster makes the car look more premium, though items such as the steering wheel and gear shifter remain unchanged.

Aesthetic updates have also brought about a welcomed side effect – improved aerodynamics. The effect of this greater efficiency is compounded by the inclusion of a brand-new 1.2 L Z12E three-cylinder engine. Suzuki will fit this motor in place of the older K12 four-cylinder engines currently installed in the outgoing cars.

The car has not been launched in Singapore yet, though it is not unrealistic to expect these cars to arrive sometime in early 2025.
