Mercedes-Benz Singapore adds two additional models to the CLE line-up in Singapore. These new variants join the CLE 200 Coupé, which was originally launched back in April this year.

One of the two new cars is a convertible version of the CLE, but retains the same mechanical gubbins as its CLE 200 Coupé sibling. This means you’ll find a 2.0 litre turbocharged mild hybrid inline-four (codenamed M254) engine under the bonnet, which develops around 201 bhp.

The rest of the car remains unchanged, with the exception of its soft touch, which will come in a choice of black, red or grey hues. Mercedes-Benz has incorporated some smarts into the fabric, which allows for excellent acoustic and insulation properties. This creates the optimal thermal comfort in all temperatures and reduces wind and driving noise. It is also fully electric, is capable of opening and closing within 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

The CLE cabriolet is, at the time of publishing, the largest convertible in the mid-size segment. Its wheelbase of 2,865 millimetres is 25 millimetres longer than the previous C-Class Cabriolet, and optimisations to the packaging further create additional space for rear seat occupants.

Even the seat fabrics have been carefully thought out and cleverly optimised for use in a cabriolet. They have a special coating that reflects the sun’s near-infrared rays. As a result, the leather remains up to 12 degrees cooler in direct sunlight as compared to untreated standard leather, even with the top closed.

The front seats, developed exclusively for the CLE, have an integral sports seat design. In conjunction with the Burmester® 3D surround sound system, two loudspeakers have been integrated into the front seat’s head rests with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio, for a personalised and immersive music experience, with this premium sound system utilising a total of 17 loudspeakers.

If more power is what you desire, Mercedes-AMG also has a variant of the CLE for you. Dubbed the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, it comes fitted with a 3.0 litre mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-six, with around 442 bhp on tap.

Torque is rated at 560 Nm, with the option of an overboost mode that momentarily bumps output to 600 Nm. The integrated starter generator briefly supplies an additional 17 kW (23 hp) of power and 205 Nm of torque and feeds the 48-volt on-board electrical system.

To distinguish this from the regular CLE, the AMG variant has more aggressive touches, including the optional AMG Optics package that includes additional flics on the front and rear apron, a more pronounced spoiler lip on the trunk lid and a diffuser board between the tailpipe trims. For further individualisation, two AMG Night packages and AMG Carbon packages are available.

Prices of the models are as follows*:
Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé: $456,888
Mercedes-Benz CLE 200 Cabriolet: $393,888

*Prices are accurate as of 22 August 2024 and are subject to change based on prevailing COE.
