The latest iteration of BMW’s first-ever electric flagship SUV has just been launched. And the updates make it more competitive and refined than ever before.

Though you’d probably not immediately spot the cosmetic changes. BMW has reshaped the iX’s headlights, and minor changes have also been made to the front grille shape too. And speaking of the front grille, it now comes equipped with “Iconic Glow”, making it bang on in line with the group’s newer offerings.

The “entry-level” eDrive40 also comes with a full body-coloured front bumper too. The M-sport car has been fitted with a completely reshaped front fascia – it is now cleaner and simpler.

It is under the skin where BMW has made the most changes. Gone is the old 76.6 kWh battery – this LCI sees BMW fitting a new 94.8 kWh, which helps bump the range up 40% to 602 kilometres. Revisions to the drivetrain have also resulted in a power bump, with total output now at 408 bhp.

This allows the large electric flagship SUV to hit 100km/h from a standstill in just 5.1 seconds. And equally fast is its ability to receive charge – DC charging can now be done at up to 175 kW, with AC Charging now at 22 kW.

On the inside, the OS8.5 infotainment system now supports in-car video streaming, 5G connectivity and even gaming.

BMW EV owners also enjoy several other perks, including a complimentary BMW Wallbox (if you can afford an iX, you’d probably have the space for one), up to 3 years of free charging at Shell Recharge stations (10,000kWh, equivalent to approx. 50,000km), and easy access to a widespread public charging network via RFID or app!

Interested parties can check out the refreshed BMW iX for themselves at JOY ELECTRIFIED at New Bahru this weekend (6th to 8th June)!
