Chinese automaker Omoda made not only its official Singapore debut at the motor show, but introduced its first car for our market too.
Distributed by former SEAT dealer Vertex Automotive, the Chinese EV brand has launched the Omoda E5. And it looks set to be a direct competitor to the likes of the BYD ATTO 3 and perhaps even the Honda HR-V.

This isn’t Omoda’s first foray into the world of car manufacturing; Omoda is built by Chery, which once distributed the QQ via the same dealer as mentioned above. But this new model is a far cry from the cars they used to make.
They have really come a very long way in a fairly short span of time. These new EVs are generally very solid vehicles, with decent overall build quality and perhaps the best infotainment UI of any Chinese car currently available for sale locally.

No official announcement has been made about the car’s specification, though you can probably expect a Category A version to be made available during its proper launch. Customers can already register their interest for the E5, which should see first customer deliveries sometime in Q1 this year.
