To address the ever-growing needs to reduce carbon dioxide and for efficient logistics, the Renault and Volvo Groups have come together to manage the development of an all-new generation of electric vans.

French logistics stalwart CMA GGM will also be joining Renault and Volvo in this new venture. This new company’s aim is to introduce an all-new family of fully electric and software-defined vehicles, with production scheduled to start in 2026.

The upcoming vans will be built on a new fully electric skateboard platform. This offers high modularity for different body types, keeping costs low while not compromising on safety requirements. They will also be made available with different battery capacities, and built on coupled with 800V architecture.

Their new Software Defined Vehicle architecture will allow end users to monitor metrics like delivery activity and business performance. These connected services will allow fleet owners to better monitor and adjust for factors that could improve overall efficiency.

Both Renault Group and Volvo Group aim to share investments in research and development. However, this new joint will be fully independent. It is hoped that the collaboration brings about the maximum benefit of existing know-how, services, and industrial footprint.

Operations are scheduled to start in early 2024, subject to regulatory approval processes. It will operate under its own corporate identity and will be based in France.
